We pooped out

Just for variety, here's a different shot of one of the avalanche lilies in the burn area outside of St. Mary's that we saw Thursday (June 4: Oops, it's a yellow fawn lily). We didn't make it back to Yellowstone yet ... too much to cover in one day for us old folks, plus the time zone change and an hour or so spent at Grant-Kohrs Ranch NHS, where I worked 25 years ago. It was nicer to pull into a Bozeman motel before dark than to push on and drive the Gardiner-Norris twisty, winding road in the dark after a long day. So, today (Sunday) we dive back into the wilds.

Gas was over $4 per gallon in northeast Washington State, the first time we've seen that price (not the last time, I'm sure!). Generally, we've paid less than $3.90. tv
