Sugar Pine Ranch Rally

Relatively quiet day, except for processing peaches and Sandy converted apricots to cobbler. Fresh beets and potatoes for supper ... mmmm!

We went to a volunteer meeting this morning for the Sugar Pine Ranch Rally, to be held Labor Day Weekend. The pictures are from last year's inaugural event. Sandy and I will help with registration several days. We're looking forward to also getting pics of the shiny metal and of the events and attractions. (The lady in the last picture is competing in an event where the rider tries to drive the length of each of three 2X4s that are offset from each other, keeping both wheels on each of the boards.)

The rally is on private land about a mile from the house, and Labor Day has been for more than a dozen years a time for motorcyclists to head for Ignacio. So, the noise level is going to be about the same anyway, and we might as help keep some of that money in the Mancos Valley.

I assisted last year, and it was really well-run. No law enforcement incidents that I know of and plenty of good fun (more beer flowing than I care for, but that's me ... and it pretty much stays on the ranch).

Despite the ominously threatening clouds in a couple of the pictures, I only recall one afternoon of rain and wind; most of the time it bypassed the rally site. tv
