Sandy said it all!

It's a trip to do the Alpine Loop! And Sandy is a BRAVE trooper ... the only time she uttered a concern was when, at about 13,000 feet, I pulled off the "road" near Engineer Pass and there was nothing but space visible ahead of the Jeep (there was a side-spur that took us to an overlook). 

For the geographically-fixated, her pictures are of American Basin and of the road and valley on the Lake Fork of the Gunnison side of Cinnamon Pass.
